Forehead lift surgery, also known as a brow lift, is a procedure designed to rejuvenate and restore a fresh, youthful appearance to the frontal region. This surgery effectively addresses sagging brows and improves lines that may contribute to a tired, sad, or grumpy appearance.
Classic Forehead Lift: Prior to commencing the procedure, the hair is sectioned and tied with small rubber bands on either side of the incision line. A ‘coronal’ incision is then made, starting from the top of one ear, traversing the forehead, and ending at the other ear, following a pattern similar to that of hearing aids. This incision typically remains behind the hairline, rendering the scar imperceptible. Through this incision, the surgeon lifts the forehead skin and corrects underlying tissues and muscles. Additionally, the eyebrows may be elevated, and excess skin is excised to achieve a more youthful appearance.
Endoscopic Forehead Lift: In contrast to the classical technique, the endoscopic method avoids a long coronal incision. Instead, 4-5 small incisions are made to facilitate the insertion of the endoscope. The endoscope, a thin tubular instrument connected to a video monitor, is then inserted through these incisions, providing a clear view of the muscles and tissues beneath the forehead skin. Using another instrument through a separate incision, the surgeon adeptly works on these tissues, yielding results comparable to those achieved with the traditional forehead lift.
